Island and Peninsula in the kitchen: how to plan a kitchen?

Open kitchen is now the norm. We value its advantages, but we do not always want to look at what happens when cooking.

How to solve this problem? The combination of the kitchen with the living room is now very fashionable and is often used.

It is not surprising, because you get a rather spacious daily area even in a small apartment. An indisputable advantage of this solution is also the fact that a person who makes food does not feel excluded from family and public life. Having direct contact with children, spouse or guests, it may be easier for them to convince them, at least in preparing dinner.

Having made a decision with open kitchen, you must remember that it also has its drawbacks, which include the smell of fried food (this prevents good and effective ventilation) throughout the room, as well as a disorder that usually accompanies cooking. Nevertheless, there is advice – placing aperture at the border of the mini kitchen. Moreover, in order to hide from the eyes of people who are resting in the living room everything that should not see, but also optical proportions of zones with various functions, and it organizes the interior, positively affecting its welcome.

In this role, the island and the peninsula work perfectly. This type of building is also a good way to increase the surface of the countertops and supplement the cabinets with large storage compartments, which are never too much in the kitchen.

The well -known idea of overlooking the kitchen table is also a bar – independent or integrated with the island or peninsula. Having built it, we get a breakfast table (it is usually absent in open kitchens) and a place where family members or guests can sit to accompany a person who prepares food.

You can also recommend a small partition on the border of the mini kitchen. Its height should not exceed 120 cm – the higher will limit the space, and this is not what is about in the open daily area. Such an overheating can be used to distinguish between the room, for example, in the recreation area or in the corner with TV installation.

Another reasonable solution is the openwork veil, from floor to ceiling. Or made of wooden planks or from metal rods, less often from a slab with carved decorative patterns. It not only borders the kitchen, but also decorates the interior. All these methods are used everywhere by masters of finishes.
